Subject: ** RealPlayer petition update
Date: Sun, Dec 5, 1999, 11:55 PM

"Ok folks, here's an update. A Real employee contacted me tonight, and here's what he said:

They are hearing us. To date they've gotten 441 emails from us (which is enough to flood any inbox :). They're going to filter them into another mailbox so they don't clog the support lines, but they will continue to count how many petitions arrive.

He added that RealNetworks doesn't comment on unreleased products or release schedules, so we shouldn't expect an official response.

He also mentioned that they have a PPC box (it's unclear if he meant Linux/PPC or a Mac OS machine) in their build system, and it's possible they might have a release for us "during the upcoming release cycle".

So, what to do?

1. Continue the campaign. They're counting us - we have to make sure they know we're out here. It would be a big disappointment to give up just when we get their attention.

2. Don't count on anything. I've heard "might," "maybe later," and "can't comment". That means nothing.

Now I know that we have many more than 450 list subscribers. So for you pessimists out there who haven't bothered to send in your emails yet, here's your chance to be counted. Your mail does NOT go to /dev/null.

PLEASE go visit http://www.linuxppc.org/real.shtml and send in your emails right now!

-Hollis

P.S. Sending duplicate emails is not only personally unethical, it reflects poorly on all of us. Please don't."
